So you have a photo session coming up and you can’t decide what you should wear? Don’t worry I have some great suggestions for you…
Coordinate your outfits - Choose outfits that compliment each other. That doesn’t mean that everyone has to wear jeans and a white shirt. Instead try choosing outfits with colours, patterns and styles that work well together. When everyone wears outfits that are too similar people can start to blend together. Bring multiple outfits or layer your outfits to help get a larger range of images.
Don’t be afraid of colour - Colour can bring your image to life and give it that extra pop. Again, make sure your colours coordinate and don’t over power each other. If one person is wearing a pattern make sure any other patterns don’t compete for attention. Smaller patterns tend to be better. It’s also best to avoid large logos as these can be distracting and can ‘date’ an image. If you are a person that likes to follow the latest ‘trends’ try to pick an outfit that is not ‘too trendy’. You want your images to have a timeless quality that you can display for many years to come.
Represent your personality - Don’t get so caught up in what to wear that you lose your personality. It’s important that your images still represent who you are. Make sure you feel great in what you wear!
Be Prepared - Remember to be organised for your session. The last thing you want is to be running around right before your leave trying to find something. Make sure everything is ready the night before so you don’t need to stress on the day. The more organised you are before the shoot the more fun you will have and the less stress you will feel during the shoot. It’s also good to know the style of photos you want and and discuss this with me prior to your session so we both go in prepared and noone is disappointed.
Personalise your session and coordinate your outfits with the location - It’s important for your photo session that we choose a location that represents you and your family. Think about things you enjoy doing or places you like to visit. These may be great locations and can offer a more unique image for you and your family. You may also want to keep in mind the places where your images will be displayed. Sometimes, this can have an impact on the location, outfits, and props chosen for a session. If young kids are involved bring along their favourite toy or items that represent their personality.
